Alpha-Lipoic acid or ALA is a naturally occurring compound that's made in the body. It serves vital functions at the cellular level, such as energy production. Alpha-lipoic acid helps to prevent certain kinds of cell damage in the body, and also restores vitamin levels such as vitamin E and vitamin C. Alpha-lipoic acid breaks down carbohydrates and to makes energy for the other organs in the body.
